What was happening in Akhetaten - the City of the Sun - and why didn’t the experiment of monotheism on Earth succeed?
The Amarna Period marked an unprecedented turning point in the history of ancient Egypt, and of humanity as a whole
Pharaoh Akhenaten turned away from the centuries-old pantheon of gods toward the light radiating from a single deity - Aten, the solar disk, living light

Legend has it that in the 14th century BCE, the heir to the throne - at that time still Amenhotep IV - spent a night at the foot of the eastern cliffs, where the pre-dawn sky was lit up with living light: a solar disk appeared before him, its rays reaching out like arms toward the man, not toward a temple
In that radiance he heard a voice:
“I am the Light of Life. There is no other but Me. I am in every home, in every soul. Your path is the Exalted Horizon”
Thus Amenhotep IV became Akhenaten - “He Who Is Beneficial to Aten” - and realized his mission to be the prophet of the One Light
And so the initiation took place, and the pharaoh was granted the power and shown the mission
In search of a place for his new city, he chose an untouched valley where the sun rises straight out of the cliffs
Akhenaten stretched his hands toward the sky and proclaimed: “Here will be Akhetaten - with no power for the priests, with no shadow of the past”
The pharaoh drove 14 boundary stelae into the cliffs, marking out the sacred space of the city
Akhetaten was meant to become a city of truth and open sunlight
In the palace, and in the temple without a roof, Akhenaten wrote the Great Hymn to Aten:
“When You rise - all things live.
You are Father and Mother, You are breath and food.
You are the One, and there is none besides You.”
This hymn is considered the first hymn to a single God in human history - long before Moses
Everything seemed wonderful: the power had been granted, the temple built, the process set in motion
And then… it was stopped after a mere 15 years or so
Why was such a unique experiment halted?
Our civilization was entering the process of duality, starting from an original state of oneness, because we needed to experience both sides of it in order to complete our journey on planet Earth
According to the ancient Egyptian concept, the single god, in the act of creating the world, splits into myriad gods who are parts of one whole
Duality is the separation of sky and earth, light and darkness, good and evil
Civilization’s task is to go through this process, to know it fully, to accept every aspect of it, to unite them, and to return to the one Creator
Perhaps the time had not yet come, and we had not yet fully learned everything the Creator intended, had not yet accepted every aspect of our multidimensional nature, had not yet recognized both the light and the darkness within ourselves, had not yet unfolded the structure completely
So the experiment was extended…
But the codes of unity and the completion of duality were anchored in the Power Place now known as Tell el-Amarna
The city itself is visually gone, completely destroyed, but energy cannot be destroyed
It has been recorded there, for us, and in time the process will be set in motion again - and this time it will be irreversible
