In my Cairo programs I suggest staying in a hotel with a view of the great pyramids. This adds a special charm to the trip and a wonderful opportunity to enjoy sunset by the pyramids, watch the “Sound and Light” show, and feel the energy of this Place of Power
A night by the great pyramids immerses us in the magic of ancient Egypt, and watching the sunrise lets you see the first rays of the rising sun light up the face of the Great Sphinx
But choosing a hotel is not easy, since Booking.com offers a huge number of hotels across every price range, so I am sharing my own top list of hotels I have personally checked out, along with all the pros and cons
Topping the list is the premium-level Marriott Mena House 5*
+++ Excellent service, delicious breakfasts, large grounds with green lawns, a good selection of à la carte restaurants, and the entrance to the Giza plateau within walking distance of the hotel
— There is a view of the pyramids, but sadly not of the Sphinx, since the hotel sits off to the side and has no frontal view of the pyramids
Steigenberger Pyramids Hotel 5*
+++ A chain hotel in Egypt with German management and a fairly solid reputation, decent breakfasts, classic rooms, cozy atmosphere
— View of the pyramids from a distance, and the hotel is not within walking distance of the pyramids
Frontal-view hotels (unrated, budget-friendly)
Mamlouk Pyramids Hotel - a relatively new hotel with a rooftop terrace overlooking the pyramids and the Sphinx; there are also a few rooms with views, decent management, and clean rooms
Great Pyramid Inn - a hotel that is partly under renovation but still running, with rooms decorated in an ancient Egyptian style, three terraces at different levels, and good food
The Gate - a small, new hotel with a couple of decent rooms that have a terrace and a side view of the pyramids; breakfasts are standard, service rates a “C-plus”
Hayat Pyramids View - the most frontal of all the hotels, with a direct view of the Sphinx, and the only one with a terrace for private yoga sessions or other practices; the rooms are partly renovated, service is average, breakfasts are standard
Pyramids Valley Boutique - a nice little hotel with a side view of the pyramids and the Sphinx, terraces on different levels, and a very decent menu selection
Best View Pyramids - set a little back from the front row of hotels, but this one has gorgeous, Instagram-worthy rooms with a view of the pyramids right from the jacuzzi
The location in Giza is very convenient for our Ancient Pyramids programs, since there is no need to waste time driving back into Cairo every time
