1. “Three Eras of Cairo” - this program covers the three main periods in the city’s development. We begin with the era of the pharaohs, when every district of modern Cairo was once its own city, visiting the Grand Museum, the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square, and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, as well as the Nilometer, a unique invention of the ancient Egyptians. The next era is Christianity, which left behind such remarkable places as Coptic Cairo (Babylon of Egypt) on the site of former Roman bastions, ancient churches - one of which is called the “Hanging Church” - along with the grotto where the Holy Family hid from King Herod and much more, as well as the largest cave church in the Middle East, dedicated to St. Simeon. And the third era is Islam, represented above all by the Citadel and the alabaster Mosque of Muhammad Ali, the ancient Mosque of Ibn Tulun, and the Mosques of Sultan Hassan and Al-Rifai

2. “Christian Holy Sites” - a pilgrimage or sightseeing tour, as you prefer

The program includes places such as the cave church of St. Simeon, Coptic Cairo (Babylon of Egypt) - home to ancient churches from the 4th to the 10th centuries, the Tree of Mary - a unique spot where the Holy Family hid with the infant Jesus, and the Church of the Virgin Mary on the banks of the Nile, home to a Bible that washed ashore in 1976, open to a page containing God’s message to the Egyptians
We also offer a visit to St. Mark’s Cathedral, founded by the first preacher of Christianity in Egypt
The Church of the Virgin Mary in Zeitoun, where several apparitions of the Virgin were reported in the 1970s

3. “City of a Thousand Minarets” - a program through Cairo’s Islamic holy sites

The most important site, the Citadel and the alabaster Mosque of Muhammad Ali

4. “Cairo by Evening” - the program’s start time depends on the season, roughly 3 hours before sunset
A visit to the city’s main landmark, the Cairo Tower, offering a panoramic view of the capital, followed by a sailing felucca ride on the Nile, a brief tour of the city on the way to one of the world’s most beautiful parks, Al-Azhar Park, and sunset with a view over Islamic Cairo
The program concludes with a stroll through the old town and Muizz Street, and a visit to the Khan el-Khalili bazaar

5. “Cairo for Kids” - a program adapted for children, both in terms of the sights chosen and how the guide tells the story

Pharaonic Village - a theme park recreating the life of the ancient Egyptians, presented in a format that’s great fun for kids. We take a ferry around the island where the park is located, view statues of the main pantheon of gods and hear their stories, watch live actors in costume demonstrate ancient Egyptian crafts, visit the homes of a wealthy and a poor Egyptian, and explore several mini-museums, such as the Tomb of Tutankhamun, the Mummification Museum, and others

The Pyramids of Giza - rides on horse-drawn carts, horses, and camels, with an optional sunset quad-bike ride in the desert behind the pyramids

The Africa Safari Park petting zoo, a 2-hour drive from the city, where you can hand-feed kangaroos and baby hippos, share a kiss with a llama, and see predators in their enclosures (I recommend setting aside a full day for this park)

6. “Palaces of Cairo” - a program through Egypt’s era of royal rule. It covers three main palaces: Manial Palace on Rhoda Island, a masterpiece of Islamic architecture; the Abdeen Palace Museum, home to a magnificent collection from various rulers; and the mystical Baron Empain Palace, the only building in Egypt in Hindu style, modeled after the temples of Angkor Wat

Unfortunately, Abdeen Palace itself is closed to visitors, as it’s the active residence of Egypt’s president, so it can only be visited with special permission - which is also available to guests of the city

7. “Cairo Unfiltered” - this program includes places such as Garbage City and the City of the Dead, which I don’t recommend visiting on your own without a guide
These places are quite specific and will appeal to those who enjoy different cultural layers and can take such sights in stride
