Memphis is the first capital of ancient Egypt, where the original energies were laid down more than 5,000 years ago
A city that deserves to be brought back to life
And there is a sense that once Memphis is revived, Egypt too will begin to reclaim the processes of its former power
Sadly, almost nothing remains of Memphis today.
In the 3rd millennium BC, the first pharaoh, Menes, founded the capital on the border between two rival states - Upper and Lower Egypt. Its name was Inebu-Hedj, meaning “White Walls,” after the color of the walls of the first fortress built there - the royal citadel. The fortress occupied an important strategic position, allowing control over the trade routes running along the Nile.
Memphis flourished and remained the capital for nearly eight centuries. The city was not only the largest administrative center but also a major trading hub. Goods from across the then-known world were brought here by boat along the Nile.
At the start of the Middle Kingdom, Memphis ceded its leading role to the new capital, Thebes, and later to Akhetaten, but it reclaimed its primacy in the 14th century BC, when Tutankhamun came to the throne, and it retained its political importance right up until Egypt’s conquest by Alexander the Great
After that, the city began to lose its strength and fall into decline…
The dams that protected Memphis from the Nile’s floods collapsed. Every year floodwater covered the ruins of the city, and Nile silt settled over them, until it eventually buried the city completely.
The city finally vanished during the era of Mamluk rule, from the 13th to the 16th century.
The rulers of this land are a sacred trinity of gods
Ptah - the one who holds the hidden powers of the earth and its processes
Sekhmet - goddess of destruction, healing, and transformation
Nefertum - god of scents, herbs, incense, and poisons
Together they manifest the power of the earth in its many aspects
According to Memphite legend, creation requires the power of two principles - feminine and masculine - which complete one another
The masculine aspect creates form, the feminine fills it
That is the only way it can happen, and no other
These forces do not oppose each other, do not compete for dominance
Everything in the universe is harmonious, and Memphite knowledge was built upon the Laws of the Universe
To revive Memphis means to embrace the co-creation of these two forces, to accept it with your whole heart, to deactivate the male dominance in Egypt that is no longer needed in this new space
And then Maat will step onto the Earth in all her beauty
In ancient times Memphis was called the “city of creation” - a place where the earth’s creative power was honored
Memphite traditions tell us that the cosmos is born through sound
The word spoken aloud is born in the heart, and it is the heart that is the source of thought, intellect, knowledge, and the creative potential that governs the whole body
The ancient Egyptians believed that all thought processes, as well as new life, arise from the heart 🙌🏻
Memphis and its philosophy reveal incredibly deep knowledge to us, which is why being on this land definitely sparks an impulse toward the opening of consciousness ❤️
Today we can visit the open-air museum and the Saqqara necropolis - this is all that remains of the ancient city
But even in this smaller format, it is possible to find just the right turn of the key and gain something priceless 🫶🏼
